It is important that electrical switchgear is regularly inspected because its normal operation provides no indication that the equipment has developed faults, deteriorated or has become dangerous due to neglect or a lack of maintenance.
Surveys of all electrical plant using heat sensitive cameras can be used to provide load readings of supply and circuits, for fault finding and fault rating, and for troubleshooting suspected conditions. ICW Power Services Division inspects all electrical switchgear and can provide a detailed report of its findings together with recommendations for remedial action.
Thermographic inspection of all plant can be invaluable, especially where power systems cannot or should not be shut down. These surveys are non-invasive, cost-effective and can be carried at practically any time of day or night. Whilst they can never replace a planned maintenance routine, thermal imaging provides a useful indication of equipment condition.
